This year, the ABCNJ Communities in Action grant will focus on “Embracing Community” and showing love to immigrant families. “Embracing Community” will assist our congregations and leaders create a welcoming and supportive environment for immigrant families through a multifaceted approach. This grant aims to equip churches with essential resources that address the unique challenges immigrant families face.
ABCNJ was awarded a grant, in cooperation with a ministry called “Sidebar Stories” to participate in a church revitalization initiative from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. This grant will offer 6-8 small to medium-sized churches in our region training in narrative worship, focusing on worship through storytelling, at no cost.
Sacred Safe Space recently held its pilot team training workshop at the ABCNJ regional office. Led by Rev. Ruth Giraldo–Mangual, Associate Regional Pastor and Min. Ron Dukes, of Alpha Baptist Church, the workshop focused on increasing awareness of our churches and developing strategies to transform them into sacred, safe spaces for survivors, victims, and their families.
More than twenty individuals gathered at Camp Lebanon on Saturday, February 1st for ABCNJ’s annual clergy retreat. Our theme for this year was "Embracing Community: Showing Love to Immigrant Families." Our retreat leader was Rev. Ray Schellinger, International Ministries global consultant for immigrants and refugees who serves some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

The current immigration crisis has highlighted the pressing need for compassion and empathy in our communities and our world. As Christians, we are called to respond with open hearts and a willingness to help those in need, remembering that each person is made in God's image.
ABCNJ was awarded a Palmer Grant through the Multi Regional Corporation. Our project, “Flourishing in Exile: Strengthening the Faith of Parents,” will provide resources and educational opportunities for parents and congregations.
Since the pandemic, there has been an increasing awareness and advocacy around domestic violence, which have led to significant legislative changes aimed at better-protecting victims and ensuring justice. New Jersey is demonstrating a strong commitment to reform and reassuring the public about the importance of protecting victims.
