Day 16 Bearing One Another’s Burdens
Rev. Michelle Jones

Scripture: Galatians 6:2 —
"Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
Reflection:
Recently, I attended my nephew Luke’s graduation from Saint Joe’s University. It was especially meaningful because Luke was born with Sturge-Weber Syndrome. People with this syndrome experience seizures, learning delays, severe migraines, and eye issues. Luke has seizures and severe migraines. His childhood was marked by hospital visits, home interventions, and considerable worry.
The entire family came together to support Luke in every way possible. One highlight of Luke’s college years was his support for others in need through a program called Apex. This program enabled Luke to travel to the Appalachian Mountains to help rebuild homes and lives devastated by natural disasters.
Watching him receive his diploma was nothing short of amazing. As he walked across the stage, we were cheering and yelling his name. Not only did he know he was supported, but everyone in the auditorium did too.
The Bible calls us to lift each other up and bear one another’s burdens. The amazing part is that when you know the Lord, the Holy Spirit gets involved. The love, care, and support carry a deep intensity, a strong drive, and a godly mission that otherwise would not be present.
Every person who walks this Earth should know they are not alone. Some need people to celebrate with them. Others need someone to help carry a burden that has become too heavy. Either way, God has called His people to be that family—to encourage, to serve, to pray, and especially to love.
Prayer: Compassionate God, open our eyes to those carrying burdens too heavy to bear alone. Grant us patient hearts to listen, willing hands to help, and faithful spirits to pray. Teach us also to celebrate one another’s victories with genuine joy. May no one among us ever feel they must journey alone. Amen.
Practice: Think of someone who may be walking through a difficult season. Instead of simply saying, “Let me know if you need anything,” reach out with something specific—a meal, a conversation, practical assistance, or time in prayer. Remind them, through your presence, that they are not alone.
