Day 15 One Body Many Gifts

Scripture:  Romans 12:  4-8 "For as in one body we have many members…" 

Reflection: 

Today, we are reminded of the richness of the community of believers. We are also presented with a call to honor its message of service to one another to care for the vitality of this precious community. The strength and depth of our service to one another cannot be underestimated; without it, we would not have homeostasis in our church body. Just as the human body requires homeostasis for survival, the body of Christ, by the measure of faith God has assigned each of us, maintains homeostasis despite all that attempts to cloud God’s love in the world.

Our acts of service align with the spirit’s movement to optimize the necessary conditions for the church body to flourish and remain a stable, constant presence in the world. Genuine service uplifts us, so that in our leadership, prophesying, teaching, preaching, ministering, encouraging, and compassion, we exemplify the ways God’s steadfast love remains faithful and offers someone the opportunity to experience God’s love as a reality in their lives, especially in moments when we care for others’ needs and extend hospitality to strangers. 

Be encouraged to practice more than random acts of service, as our actions are driven by the ardent spirit within us to serve one another in the name of Jesus. 

Prayer: Loving God, thank You for the many gifts You have placed within the body of Christ. Teach us to value the gifts You have given each person and to use our own gifts with humility and faithfulness. Through our serving, teaching, encouraging, leading, giving, and caring, strengthen Your Church and reveal Your steadfast love to the world. Amen.

Practice: Identify one gift God has entrusted to you and consider how it can strengthen someone else. Look for a specific opportunity this week to put that gift into action—not for recognition, but for the health and flourishing of the whole body of Christ.
