We continue to be grateful for the good and diligent work our ABCNJ pastors and churches are doing to stay connected, build community and share the gospel in your respective communities. We are also grateful for the way in which you are taking seriously the responsibility to think of the safety of all within our communities…

From The American Baptist Churches of New Jersey and Palmer Theological Seminary, as we and our churches are making our ways in the midst of the pandemic, racial strife, and economic hardship, we feel uncertain, pulled in many directions, and subject to many concerns and fears. We have been struggling and divided over whether and how to open our churches; in fear and sorrow over catching the virus and loved ones lost to it; in despair over the loss of jobs and how to make ends meet; in the sorrow and lament over the things that we were expecting and looking forward to that have been lost; and in anger mixed with hope and ambivalence at the continuing manifestation of deadly racism and the strength of multi-racial protests and anti-racist efforts marred by violence by a handful
Make sure to download the resource packet that we were able to assemble after conversations with regional leaders. Thanks to all who were able to attend our small group discussion on reopening our church buildings. We had 80 pastors and leaders join us! We hope it was helpful! If you find yourself wanting to have further discussion, please know that your regional staff is available.
We are living in unprecedented and difficult days. You, as spiritual leaders in your congregations and communities, are managing the fears, anxieties, and grief of many. You are managing your own as well.
In light of the rapidly evolving realities of the COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution and care for our staff and Region, ABCNJ’s region staff will be working remotely for the foreseeable future.
We are sorry to announce the postponement of these upcoming region events due to continuing public health crisis.
Certainly the fear of this pandemic is real and haunts all people around the world. Yet it is during times such as these when followers of Christ must take refuge in God, and trust the One who provides strength and peace in all circumstances.
Due to construction in the ABCNJ office, along with the health crisis, some of the ABCNJ staff will be working remotely from March16-19.
