Family Violence Across the Lifespan: Supporting Individuals in Crisis

  • First Baptist Church of Hightstown 125 Main Street Hightstown, NJ 08520 (map)

Hello, World!

How to Help and Not to Hurt

A trusted spiritual leader is often times the one person someone will turn to when experiencing family violence. In this training, participants will learn how to engage and support individuals experiencing one of three distinct abuses. Topics covered include child sexual abuse; courtship violence and spouse abuse; and elder abuse.
The focus for this training is to offer participants insights into intervention possibilities with elder abuse, child sexual abuse and domestic violence. These forms of family violence involve three populations with close, interdependent relationships and this can create the potential circumstances and context for abuse. These forms of abuse affects people of every social, economic, and religious background impacting both men and women. Victims face fear of abandonment, financial exploitation, and neglect.

A light breakfast, and lunch will both be provided.
