ABWM Annual Spring Rally and Love Gift Luncheon

Dear Friends of ABWMinistries: Most of you know what happened to our plans for the Love Gift Luncheon—the Blizzard of 2013!  So, we have decided to combine the Love Gift Luncheon and Spring Rally into one special event.  If you had already sent in your reservation for Love Gift Luncheon, it will automatically be transferred to Spring Rally at FBC, Piscataway.  If you cannot make that date, let Adele Hueston know and your money will be either returned or donated directly to the Love Gift fund.

If you have made a Valentine, bring it with you to Spring Rally.  We will send them, with a letter of explanation, to Lyons Hospital to be used next year or as they see fit.  The Valentine Card Contest still stands.

The ABWM Annual Spring Rally & Love Gift Luncheon will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the
First Baptist Church of New Market, 450 New Market Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854.  Our two speakers are: Rev. Tamara Davis on “Reclaiming the Voices Past and Present” and Rev. Mayra Castañeda on "Love Gift."

On site registration begins at 09:30 am and the luncheon will begin at 11:30 am.

To pre-register,  please contact Debbie Carr: 732-968-6290 call between 9:00am – 2:00pm or Adele Hueston at ahueston@msn.com.  Please send your $7.00 donation (if you have not yet sent in money for the Love Gift Luncheon): Make checks payable to First Baptist Church of New Market.  Mail to: First Baptist Church of New Market, Attn: Debbie Carr, 450 New Market Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854.

ABCNJ Receives Break the Chains Grant from AB Women's Ministries

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 6/27/12)—AB Women’s Ministries Executive Director Virginia Holmstrom announced that six organizations nationally and internationally will receive Break the Chains grant funding in 2012. The organizations represent educational programs meant to diminish women and girls’ vulnerability to violence and provide tools for self-support and self-determination, providing safe spaces for women who have been abused, and advocacy and justice work on behalf of women and girls. “To uphold our passionate commitment to better the lives of women and girls globally, AB Women’s Ministries decided last year to continue the national Break the Chains mission project with a new theme and focus. ‘Break the Chains and Stop the Pain’ focuses on violence in the lives of women and girls, with emphases on domestic violence and other violent acts of oppression, including sex trafficking,” explained Holmstrom. Internationally, grants are awarded this year to the “AfterCare, Shelter, and Repatriation for Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Exploitation, and Trafficking” program of NightLight Ministries Thailand, led by ABC International Ministries missionary Annie Dieselberg; the “Anti-Trafficking Outreach and Education in Bulgaria” ministry, led by ABC International Ministries missionary Terry Myers; and the “European Baptist Federation Anti-Trafficking Network Conference” to help support a coordinator position, with ABC International Ministries missionary Debbie Kelsey. In the United States, grants have been awarded to “GIRLS (Girls in Real Life Situations)” ministry of the Milwaukee Christian Center, Milwaukee, WI and led by Maritza Ugarte; “Safe Spirit Ministries: Building Sacred Safe Spaces” ministry of ABC of New Jersey and led by the Rev. Tamara Davis; and “Charting a New Employment Path for Women” ministry program of Cameron Community Ministries, Rochester, NY and led by Cindy Harper.
