ABCNJ is searching for an Associate Regional Pastor who is called and committed to this rich diversity and has the gifts, skills, and experiences necessary to serve effectively and creatively alongside our ministry team and churches. The Associate Regional Pastor reports to the Executive Minister/Senior Regional Pastor. This is a full-time position based at the ABCNJ Region Office, located at 3752 Nottingham Way, Trenton, NJ 08690.
Core Duties and Areas of Ministerial Responsibilities
Be a regular presence in our ABCNJ congregations.
Actively involved with congregations in search and call process.
Provide guidance, coaching and counsel to congregations and pastors in various stages of the church life cycle.
Represent region in significant church life events (i.e., anniversaries, installations, ordination services).
Work with clergy to encourage healthy practices and growth as spiritual leaders
Work with conflict situations in a positive and redemptive manner
Cultivate and nurture covenantal relationships throughout our 9 associations
Be an encouragement, resource and participant in the governance life of the Associations.
Encourage participation and financial generosity in support of ABCNJ and ABCUSA missions.
Regularly preach and teach in our ABCNJ churches.
Serve on the Professional Ministries and Church Relations Committee.
Work on site in Region office throughout the week.
Other relevant duties as assigned by the Executive Minister.
Familiarity with ABCNJ governance and polity.
Has the ability to articulate their faith and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Models personal and spiritual integrity and is emotionally mature.
Demonstrates cross-cultural competence.
Communicates effectively and collaborates with people of all demographics as well as diverse theological and ideological perspectives.
Team player with a collaborative work style.

Exemplifies a strong commitment to ABCNJ/ABCUSA missions.
Can articulate and commit to the ABC Code of Ethics and Covenant for professional church leaders.

Communicates and responds promptly and effectively via email, texting, telephone and social media.
Self-motivated and can work independently.
Key Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience
Possesses a Master of Divinity or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary (including at least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education).
Ordained ABC minister in good standing.
Minimum of 5 years of full-time paid ministerial experience.
Articulates a strong sense of Christian and pastoral identity.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates evidence of successful leadership in building and managing complex relationships among peers, churches and clergy.
Willing and able to travel across the region. Must posses and maintain a current valid driver’s license.
Proficient with Mac applications.
Proficiency in the use of social media and technology.
