Associate Pastor/Director of Ministry to Youth

The following description was provided by The First Baptist Church of Collingswood.

Position Objective: The First Baptist Church of Collingswood, is seeking leadership for its ministry to middle and high school age youth. We are looking for a person who possesses a deep faith, and a deep commitment to engage and empower youth, their families, and the extended church family in a cooperative effort to grow young people to maturity in Christ.

Hours: Part time – 15-20 hours per week

Faith Qualifications

  • A clear and compelling testimony of faith in and love for Jesus, and a growing, personal relationship with Him.

  • Commitment to and compatibility with the mission, vision, and statement of beliefs of First Baptist Church of Collingswood.

  • Commitment to moral purity and Christian discipleship.

  • Although we are an American Baptist Church, affiliation with our denomination is NOT a prerequisite for this position. We will consider any and all candidates who possess a firm commitment to Christ and otherwise fit the faith qualifications and abilities noted herein.

Responsibilities

  • Continue to grow in your relationship with Jesus through Bible Study, prayer and the practice of other spiritual disciplines.

  • Be a role model to children, youth, families, and the church family by living a God- honoring life.

  • Lead, coordinate, and support ministry to middle and high school youth, with the objective of leading kids to maturity in Christ. This will involve development of a youth ministry that encourages and assists the youth as they grow in the Gospel, experience shared community, and live missionally.

  • Connect and build relationships with parents and provide resources, guidance, and counseling to help them become involved in the youth ministry and to take responsibility for the spiritual development of their children.

  • Connect and build relationships with the wider church family and involve them in the task of leading youth to maturity in Christ

  • Help youth identify their giftedness and connect them to areas of service in the church; identify and raise up leaders. Help youth consistently assume greater levels of Kingdom responsibility.

  • Teach and prepare youth for baptism.

  • Meet regularly with church leadership.

  • Coordinate activities with the Children’s Pastor/Director when appropriate.

  • Be an ecumenical, missional presence in the community; connect with other youth leaders and youth in the community.

  • Report and be accountable to the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team.

  • Other duties as may be identified in coordination with the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team.

Work Hours, Vacation, and Salary

  • The typical expectation will be 15-20 hours per week (including Sunday mornings)

  • Two paid vacation weeks annually.

  • Salary commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
