Image What a way to begin one's tenure as the new ABCNJ Associate Regional Pastor for New Church Development!

On June 10, it was my pleasure to introduce Rev. Malva Wise-White, the region's new Associate Regional Pastor for NCD, to the ABCNJ Committee on New Church Development. She can be seen on the far right hand side of the photo. On our agenda was a wonderful task - to affirm regional support and blessing for 3 new church starts:

  • First Haitian Baptist Church in Williamstown (Rev. Georges, Pastor)
  • NextGen Ministries in West Windsor (Mia Chang, Pastor - left front in picture)
  • Salem Haitian Baptist Church in Newark (Rev. Tilus, Pastor - center back in picture)

Isn't it interesting that we have welcomed one new church in the southern part of the region, one i the central section, and one in the north? ABCNJ is reaching all of New Jersey for Christ!

You'll be hearing more about and from Rev. Wise-White in the coming weeks. She comes to this region post well prepared and as a "product" of our new church development ministry, since she serves as the pastor of the innovative new church start called Space for Grace @. Welcome, Malva, to the ABCNJ team!

NCD Leaders Learn About Spiritual Journeying PDF Print E-mail

Over 40 pastors and lay leaders from around the region attended the latest New Church Development Workshop on October 28, 2007 at First Baptist Church in New Brunswick.  They spent three hours learning about Endless Possibilities, a model of spiritual journeying created by ABCNJ's Executive Minister and Senior Regional Pastor, Rev. Dr. Lee B. Spitzer. 

Endless Possibilities focuses on how to discern God's will for one's life through apprecaiting the milestones and journey themes that God places in our lives.  Participants learn how to ask questions regarding their spiritual lives and are provided with an easy to understand 5 phase framework to visulaize how we make progress in our journeys.  Dr. Spitzer is available to share this model with your church in either a retreat or workshop format.

ImageABCNJ's New Church Development ministry has been ably guided for six years by Rev. Elizabeth Congdon.  She has served as Associate Regional Pastor for NCD with skill, caring and energy.  This event was her last project for us.  She currently serves as Interim Minister for Hamilton Square Baptist Church and will no doubt be active in many aspects of regional life.  Thanks, Liz, for all you have done to advance the Kingdom of God here in New Jersey!

ABCNJ's New Church Development ministry fosters outreach to our state's burgeoning populations.  We have started churches for the Latino, Haitian, African-American, Korean, Brazilian and Liberian communities.  Your church can become an NCD partner church by supporting the pastoral work of our NCD planters. 

Special thanks also to Dr. John Hayward and Dr. Luciano Marquez (pictured left) for graciously hosting the NCD event at their church!  Dr. Hayward serves on the ABCNJ Council Executive Committee, while Dr, Marquez is ABCNJ's Associate Regional Pastor for Latino Ministries.
