On Sunday, June 8, 2008 the ABCNJ Women in Ministry gathered at Charlie Brown’s Restaurant in Highland Park for dinner and celebration!
We had a wonderful time of fellowship and finally had the chance to celebrate the installation of Rev. Sue Royle, of Living Word Baptist Church in Tom’s River. It was a delight to hear Sue share her reflections on the installation and then to hear from other members of the group on their own experiences in ministry.
It was a real encouragement to gather together, and to feel the love and support we can offer to each other as women in ministry.
Look for coming events for our ABCNJWIM including a fall retreat!

Greetings from the new Associate Regional Pastors for Women in Ministry! We are thrilled to be a part of the ABCNJ staff and are jumping in with both feet- (or all four of our feet since there are two of us)! We are delighted to announce June 8,2008 as the date of our WIM Spring Gathering. And, because so many of us could not attend the installation of Rev. Sue Royle, we'll have to opportunity to celebrate with Sue as well! The gathering will be held at Charlie Brown's Restaurant, Highland Park, NJ at 5PM in the Raritan Room. Please RSVP by June 1, 2008 via email:

As the Program Director for Women’s Ministry in the National Council of Churches (NCC), I am coordinating a new pilot project entitled Young Women’s Leadership Experiences. The pilot project will be an opportunity for women 18 to 30 years of age to be involved in the ecumenical movement through the addressing women’s issues. I am writing to request your immediate assistance in the identification of strong applicants. The first Young Women’s Leadership Experience will be held February 22nd to 26th in conjunction with the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations. This four day experience will provide orientation to the NCC, Ecumenical Women 2000+, the UN, and the 2008 CSW theme: Financing for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. As visitors to the UN CSW, participants will get a small taste of the UN events as well as participate in exciting side-events at the Church Center at the United Nations (CCUN). This first Young Women’s Leadership Experience has an application dead line of January 15th, so please take a moment now to decide who you will encourage to apply and send them the information TODAY. Electronic versions of this material are available from me at

There was joy in our hearts as we assembled to lay hands on Dr. Margaret Ann Cowden, retiring Treasurer and CFO of National Ministries. The Rev. Liz Congon, Assoc. Regional Pastor for New Church Development and Interim Pastor at Hamilton Square BC in Trenton, led us in prayer. |
