Churches tend to wind down over the Summer months. Programs come to a halt, Sunday School shuts down, and attendance drops. It's typical, but it's not healthy as the first few month of the "school year" are often spent trying to renew connections which have been severed by the Summer hiatus. This year, in an effort to help people not only keep their currently connections, but also encourage new ones, Central Baptist Church is making creative use of technology. They're holding a Wii™ Bowling League.

Nine teams are set up, and four families have offered their homes as "lanes" for the league. The friendly competition keeps people talking over the summer, and cheering one another one (even people who aren't signed up to bowl are encouraged to stop by and cheer on the bowlers). There have already been rumblings from other Churches who want in on the fun!

The idea came from several of the members of Central Baptist Church, and one even enthusiastically took up the job of commissioner. Other than the limit of two person's per team, the league is being run as a regular bowling league, complete with handicaps. The inaugural season kicked off June 23, and has already been a big hit.

In what ways does your Church use technology as a good backdrop for fellowship? Please drop me a line and your church can be highlighted on ABCNJ.net!
