From Dr. Spitzer: Here is a short report from ABC IM missionaries Dwight and Barbara Bolick. Since they reported in, news has come to us that over 700 people have died. ABCNJ has two pastors and two clergy wives from Chile, as well as a number of lay members.
If your church would like to donate to ABC One Great Hour of Sharing, that would be a great encouragement. Let's not grow weary in demonstrating solidarity, love and compassion!
We have contact with the Director of the Southern District of our partner convention, Pastor Lord Merino. In Temuco, where we live, the quake registered 8.6. They are without water, but electricity has been restored. Nevertheless, the devastation appears the worst in the Concepcion area. More than 300 deaths. No information yet about churches in that area. We are thankful for people like Lord who is staying in our house until we arrive Wednesday. He said it was a terrifying experience, that they are praying alot and his church will gather for a meal tomorrow. Asked for prayer for his country. Soon we will have information about the impact on our churches.
