Changes to the ABCNJ Dental Plan Print E-mail

FROM THE ABCNJ REGION OFFICE: The following memo is being mailed today (Friday, February 12, 2010) to all churches and individuals enrolled in the ABCNJ Dental Health Plan.  If you are in the plan and do not receive a letter by February 18, please call the Region Office immediately!



IMPORTANT MEMO

TO:  ABCNJ DENTAL HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN MEMBERS

FROM: ABCNJ REGIONAL OFFICE

RE: CHANGE IN ABCNJ HORIZON DENTAL HEALTH PLAN ADMINISTRATION

 

We have been informed that Connor Strong is unwilling to administer the ABCNJ Horizon Dental Health Plan, effective March 1, 2010.  They gave us two choices: to have the region take over the plan’s administration, or have every member seek an individual plan (with unknown rate structures).

 

In order to protect the dental coverage of our members, the ABCNJ Council Executive Committee voted on February 8, 2010 to have the region office assume the administration of the plan.  Dr. Lee B. Spitzer and Mrs. Linda E. Porter have met with representatives from Horizon, and they are willing to work cooperatively with us.  Here is what you need to know to help us during this transition:

 

  1. If you remain within the plan, your 2010 insurance rates will remain the same.
  2. Your January and February 2010 premiums should be sent to Connor Strong.
  3.  ABCNJ should receive all future dental plan premiums, beginning with your March 2010 payment.  We have enclosed an invoice for this payment in the letter to the churches; copies of this memo are being sent to each individual.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THE PERSON WHO PAYS YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE BILLS RECEIVES AND PROCESSES THIS PREMIUM INVOICE IMMEDIATELY!  The check should be made payable to ABCNJ and “Dental Plan Premium” written in the Notes line.

ABCNJ will send your church an invoice each month from now on.  Please pay it on time.  One of the reasons Connor Strong has declined to continue administering our plan is that churches have not paid their premiums on time.  In the past, Connor Strong covered those payments.  Beginning in September 2009 (without our knowledge), they stopped covering late premiums, causing Horizon Dental to cancel coverage for the entire group!

Moving forward, if your church does not send in your monthly premium on time (by the due date), your church will be assessed a late fee of $10 for each occurrence. 

It would really help the regional office if your church might consider paying your yearly premium in one payment.  Please consider this option.
