MLK Services Around ABCNJ

It has been almost 60 years since Rev. Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. stood in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC and proclaimed, "I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; ‘and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.’ This is our hope, and this is the faith... With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope."

We pause each year to honor MLK's memory, a celebrated Civil Rights Leader and American Baptist minister, while also being reminded of the work we still have left to do. We invite our ministry partners, members, leaders, and laity to find a place to worship this MLK day as we continue to “hew out of of the mountain of despair” hope and faith for our communities. Here are some of the notices for services we received from some of our ABCNJ congregations:

THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON: KEEPERS OF THE DREAM (2021 I 46m)

THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON: KEEPERS DF THE DREAM traces the Civil Rights Movement from the 1963 March on Washington to the summer of 2020, focusing on anti-Black violence motivating decades of activism. This historical context places a new perspective on Dr .. King's statement that the future of the Ciivil Rights Movement would be the struggle for genuine equality, a much more difficu It struggle.
